2014 has just arrived, and many of us have made resolutions to be healthier this year. Here are a few of my favorite apps that can help achieve that goal.
Nike Training Club
This is my FAVORITE workout app, I use it at the gym all the time. There are over 100 different exercise routines that vary from 15-45min. You can choose from beginner, intermediate, and advanced workouts, as well as workouts to get lean, toned, or strong. There are videos of each exercise, so you will know how to do it correctly. It's an easy way to add variety and strength training to your workout routine. You can find out more here.
Experience Life: 101 Revolutionary Ways to be Healthy
This app is from one of my favorite magazines, Experience Life. Best of all it's free! It has TONS of information on how to keep you mind, body, and spirit happy and healthy. You can find recipes, meditation techniques, workout routines, and so much more! Each day there is a new main topic. When you follow it you come to 5 or 6 articles with information on how to live a healthier life. Don't like the day's topic? You can scroll through all 101 topics and find tons of articles that wll spark your interest. Find out more about the app here.
These last three apps are currently only for iPhone/iPad users. It looks like they are working on a Cat Spanish Android version. You can follow the link to let them know you want it and to sign up for updates.
This app is for anyone who gets bored on the treadmill. The instructor will lead you through a 15 or 30 min session, frequently changing the speed and incline. The session can be challenging, but you are encouraged to go at your own level. There are 2 free sessions, and you can purchase more for $0.99 each. You can fine out more here.
With my work schedule I often can't make it to the real yoga studio. This app has 15min, 30min and 60min routines. You can choose from different types of classes (relaxation, flexibility, etc) and three differenty difficulty levels. I usually use the pre-made classes, but you can also create your own if you like. I also like this app for when I travel. You can find out more info here.
Learning a language is a great way to keep your mind healthy. Many studies have found that speaking two or more languages can slow the aging process and prevent dementia later in life. Cat Spanish is a great way to get your mind working! There are cute pictures of cats coupled with Spanish phrases. Think cat Rosetta Stone. Besides learning Spanish you will also smile a lot, which is also very beneficial to your health :) Find out more about the app here.
